This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews. All opinions are 100% mine.
This pregnancy has been night and day different from Blake’s, which you’ve all heard me say before 😉 However, I did go into this one with a little different mindset and different goals so I thought I would do a post on some things that I’ve really made an effort in doing this round.
After I had Blake, my recovery was terrible. I couldn’t walk for almost two weeks after, I got a really bad infection, mastitis but hard, blah, blah, blah. No joke it was just a lot at once on top of being a new Mom and I was just in a LOT of pain. So my main focus this time has been to (hopefully) avoid that. When I was pregnant with Blake I wasn’t unhealthy per say, but I definitely didn’t take care of my body like I should’ve. I didn’t really work out, kind of ate what I wanted and was young and just naive. Sooo those two things alone were ones I wanted done differently this time.
So here’s been my plan of action and kind of what I’ve done:
Work out 3-4 times a week. At the beginning this was slim to impossible because I was SO sick and honestly between sciatica and still being nauseous everyday, it’s still a struggle. But if I can’t get an actual work out in, I at least throw Blake in the stroller and we go for a walk. Anything to just move!
Eat wisely. Rather than just kind of eating whenever and whatever, I’ve made more of an effort to eat smarter. I haven’t had a ton of cravings this pregnancy (I’ve had some but not like Blake) so this part hasn’t been terribly hard thank gosh because lemme tell you other parts have been ROUGH.
Be aware of what I’m putting in my body. This is something I’ve just gotten better at throughout the last couple of years and obviously wanted to continue it while pregnant especially. But I really make a conscious effort to read ingredients and just be aware of things I’m using, etc.
Water intake – don’t get me wrong, I love my Starbucks. But I’ve made a rule that especially if I get Starbucks that day I have to drink an extra glass of water,
Calcium – besides just taking my prenatal, I’ve learned a lot about the importance of the right amount of calcium while pregnant. I’ve been using the Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews (which just so happen to be delicious). I share more about them below.
Those have been the main changes I’ve done this time around. I’m hoping that just by putting my body in a better place it’ll make everything a little smoother for the “after”. Ha! Fingers crossed anyways. I’m open to more tips and tricks though, so drop em’ below if you’ve got them!
Viactiv Calcium Soft chews:
As promised, more into these because they’ve been awesome! I take one a day and there’s 650 mg of calcium in each chew. You can actually take up to two a day, but I do the one with my normal pre natal. It’s important though to do this because most prenatal vitamins only have 20-30% of the needed calcium in them. So do your research! 9 out of 10 OBGYNs recommend these Viactiv Soft Chews and I’ve been really impressed with them. Not to mention they taste delicious, like I said. Calcium is needed to preserve your bone mass while baby is developing. Plus just meeting your daily calcium requirements is important throughout all stages of life (including breastfeeding if you plan to). So it’s just a win, win thing all around.
