Well y’all, I’ve made it more than halfway. HOLLA. I feel like this is a call for celebration. The last few days have been pretty dang hard, ligament pain is real, charlie horses are a daily thing and well, I’m trying to keep my head up and thanking God that we get to be pregnant with this miracle babe, but if I’m being honest – it’s been a hard, long journey. Especially because we did IVF, this all started forever ago – so I feel like I’ve basically been pregnant since October, which isn’t true – but you know, shots, appointments, blood draws, egg retrieval, transfer, more shots, then pregnancy (YAY), but not the easiest pregnancy. Sooooo I’m trying to keep my head up and remember how much a miracle and gift this is.
Now, let’s dive into Q+A’s because I think it’s just the easiest way to get all the things out there and answer things you guys are wondering!
Q: Have you felt baby boy move?
A: YESSSS! Marcus actually felt him too about a week ago for the first time. He’s an active little thing. I don’t feel him much during the day right now, but as soon as I sit down to relax at night, he’s going crazy in there. HA
Q: Any name ideas yet? (most asked question)
A: We don’t have anything locked down yet, but we do have an idea of one we really do like. I think we will wait to share his name though until after he is born because we want to make sure it fits!
Q: Advice for nausea?
A: UGHHH. Hang in there. Seriously that part is rough and I’m still on medication for it because it just won’t chill out over here. Meds are basically the only thing that helped me. So i’d ask your doc!
Q: Best stretch mark prevention?
A: So I got stretch marks on my butt with Blake, but not on my stomach and the ones on my butt basically faded away. However, this round I already have them on my stomach and they’re pretty dark, so I’m not sure what works. I’ve been using coco butter and I think that’s helped a little bit but I actually just ordered a couple more to try – so I’ll report back on that!
Q: Do you plan to breastfeed?
A: I plan to give it my best effort. 😉 HA Breastfeeding with Blake was REALLY hard and honestly, looking back I wish I hadn’t forced myself into like I did – we just both weren’t into it and barely made it to 6 months and she was over it and weaned herself then. So I’m going to try and see how he does, but if it’s not working I’m not going to force myself like I did with her.
Q: Is your belly the same size as your first at this point?
A: Nope. HA! It grew so much faster this time. I’d say though honestly it is probably close because it’s started to slow down and even out a little bit, it just hit a lot faster.
Q: How do you deal with calf cramps?
A: Ugh I wish I had the answer for this because I’ve literally tried EVERYTHING, magnesium, more water, bananas, stretching and it just won’t quit. I get them really bad at night and while I’m sleeping – like to the point where they wake me up in tears. Marcus is really good about helping and trying to rub my calves to see if that helps and typically it does – it just takes a few minutes.
Q: Are you getting a double stroller?
A: YESSS! We actually just are using our previous stroller and converting it since you can do that. We have the UppaBaby and LOVEEEE it, I can’t say enough good things about it. We got the skateboard attachment and another seat just in case, but Blake is quite a bit older so I would guess she will spend the majority of the time on the skateboard! You can shop the Uppa, here.
Q: Do you eat a lot of junk food or something else?
A: Honestly, this pregnancy has been weird with foods. I don’t really crave chocolate (which I usually love) and I want more of like sour, gummy things and salty. Plus pears – I can’t get enough pears. So I’d say not a ton, but I definitely get a sweet tooth here and there!
Q: Favorite place to shop for him?
A: I’d probably say H&M – they have a lot of cute little guys clothes! Also there are random insta-shops that I love too!
Q: What are your favorite pregnancy leggings?
A: Hands down Blanqi. They’re incredible and they have support – check em’ out, here.
Q: Any recommendations for books?
A: I’m actually going to share on stories today because Simply Sadie Jane just released a whole Labor + Delivery combo and it’s SOOO good. Plus it’s on sale for Mother’s Day, so I’d grab that! Just so much knowledge in there.
Q: How early did you start showing with this pregnancy?
A: I’m not sure if it was the IVF medication causing bloating, but I was showing at like 10 weeks this time. So super early.
Q: How far along are you?
A: Almost 21 weeks!
Q: Are you nervous about transitioning from 1 to 2?
A: YES. Can I just write that? 😉 HA! I’m terrified, especially working full time, it’s scary – but Blake is older so I’m hoping it won’t be terrible, maybe, fingers crossed…
Q: How’s he measuring with the cord insertion problem?
A: So far he has been about 5 days ahead every time, so I’m praying it stays like that. I’ve read and heard things start to slow down the bigger they get with velamentous cord insertion, but we will see. Just praying everything goes smoothly!
Q: How did you stay positive/cope with infertility?
A: I’m not sure I’d say I stayed positive, I was pretty pissed off most days about it, ha 😉 But I really tried to focus on the whole “God’s timing” thing – he knows me better than anyone so I knew he had a plan for us, even if I didn’t understand it and it was freaking hard.
Q: Do you have a birth plan?
A: Noppee…hahaha. I probably won’t either. I feel like with Blake’s I just went with the flow and that worked out best, so I’ll probably do the same this time.
Q: Will you be delivering without meds?
A: Aye, this is a hard question. I’m usually the one that’s like GIVE ME THE MEDS, but I have looked into it a little more this time ONLY because my recovery with Blake was REALLY hard…so I don’t want that again. However with the cord insertion issue, I’ll be induced if I haven’t had him by 39 weeks and realistically I’ll probably again, just go with the flow and see how I feel.
I think that’s probably all I’ll answer for today! 🙂 But I’m trying to do these often, so I’ll do another one soon!
