Today’s actually the perfect day to write this post because well, I’m finally feeling like some progress was made and that I can say DON’T GIVE UP! Which leads me into what this entire post is even about…I’m sharing a yummy protein shake recipe with y’all using the Earth’s First Premier Protein Chocolate shake! But first let me give you my entire spill because I’m feeling empowered as of this morning. I have been REALLY making an effort to eat healthier and work out consistently for a couple of months now. I had been working out long before that, 3-5 times a week, but I wasn’t seeing a ton of results. WHICH I knew had to be because I wasn’t making changes in my diet and lifestyle too. SO about two months ago, mid summer I said – I’m going to start going to bed early, I’m going to make a conscience effort to choose healthy foods over sweets and I’m going to do these things while continuing the exercise routine I already was doing. I just added in a little more cardio!
Well last week, I was getting FREAKING FRUSTRATED. Like in tears frustrated because I’ve been working so dang hard (and giving up sweets – which if you know me is HARD FOR ME) and I just wasn’t seeing any results. I try really hard not to get obsessed with the scale because I just don’t think it’s important, it’s more about your health in general and how you feel. But I got up this morning, weighed myself and had lost 6 pounds! Which might not seem like a lot, but to me it is everything, it’s results and it’s the motivation I needed to keep pushing me further. Now, not only that – but I also woke up this morning and ran with Blake and ran 2 full miles without stopping to walk – AGAIN PROGRESS. When I first started running (which was a long time ago), I could barely run for 1 minute, now this morning I ran two freaking miles without stopping, that’s a big deal y’all! So my point of all this – is, do, not, give up. The thing that I think we all have such a hard time with is well, the comparison game, but let me tell you – it’s about ourselves, our own bodies and how we feel, it’s about our personal records and accomplishments and it doesn’t matter if it’s slower or “worse” than someone else’s. Our bodies are all SO dang different that things happen in their own time and how they’re supposed to, so don’t give up!!!
Now, let’s talk about this shake recipe because I really think that adding more protein into my diet has helped me a lot! I’m not going to lie, I knew protein was important, but was like – whatever, I get enough. BUT since upping it a little I feel better, I feel stronger. SO I’m going to share a little shake recipe that I like to call my “protein power shake” that I try to drink 2-3 times a week!
Ingredients:
- 1 Premier Protein Chocolate Shake (or vanilla)
- 2 Cups of ice
- 2 TBSP of peanut Butter
- 1 Cup Strawberries
Directions:
Easy. Literally you throw it all in a blender and blend! If you like it more “frothy”, add more ice – I prefer mine a little drinkable, so I do the 2 cups of ice and it’s perfect!
