First off, confession – I LOVE PRINTABLES. Like I google and Pinterest them all the time, but I couldn’t find the perfect meal one so naturally I made one, duh. I wanted something that broke down each meal of the day, including snacks so that I could plan and count calories and all that jazz. Plus then it helps me know what to buy at the grocery store. SO I plan a week in advance. I also included an example of what mine might look like for a week so you could get a feel. I also included two YUMMY yogurt snack/meal ideas too because we love yogurt in this house, like all the kinds of yogurts.
So on my meal sheet I break it down by J and B (Jess and Blake) so I can plan for both of us. Marcus is at work all day and he can do his own thing, minus dinner 😉 HA! Sorry I ain’t that nice, two mouths is enough to worry about feeding. I only do this though for breakfast and lunch, because we generally eat dinner somewhat together and then Blake it all over the place with snacks. #ToddlerLife – Anyways, so some tips and tricks, one, plan a week in advance – do this because you know what to grocery shop for and how to plan out if you’re on a meal plan or trying to eat healthy. Then you can break it down by where you need to get things, etc. Like I get all our yogurt at Target…because I just like their selection and we eat like five different kinds of yogurt on a weekly basis in this house, so it works out. Plus – Target is life people, you know this – do I really need an excuse to shop at Target?
ANYWAYS. Back to tips and tricks – so plan ahead. Next, don’t be afraid to change things up. I like to have this as an outline, but honestly if I’m not feeling a salad one day, I will switch things around by days or just substitute it for something else, but it’s nice to have things written down because honestly, most times I’m in a rush and eat junk. This way I have a schedule and find myself eating a heck of a lot healthier. Final tip – make things as easy as possible for you. If this means prepping things the night before, then prep things the night before. You’re going to be more successful in your eating journey and organization if you PLAN AHEAD. I know, easier said than done but I promise once you get into a routine of it, it’s way easier.
Now, let’s talk a couple of things we love to do with yogurts. First off – favorite yogurts (because they’re just easy and healthy). We love Oikos, Light & Fit, Danimals and Happy Family. They all have products that are perfect for each of us (squeezable pouches, greek yogurt, cups, etc.) So it works perfectly and like I said this is just something that’s a hit in our house and really easy to grab and make on the go while keeping things healthy and on point. A few ways we love to use yogurt, well – by itself obvi, but also on waffles, with granola, greek yogurt chicken, mixed with fruit – seriously there are so many ways. But I thought it would be fun to highlight two ways we love to use it and do so often.
- Yogurt Bowls (as we call them)
These are basically just bowls full of yogurt, fruit and granola – maybe a little honey if we are feelin’ it that day! My favorite way is exactly as pictured, Oikos Strawberry Yogurt with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas and granola! Oh my gosh it’s seriously so good.
2. Guacamole
Okay, so this sounds crazy but don’t knock it until you try it okay. It makes guacamole SOOOO creamy and delicious. So you can use this guac recipe I shared, here, the other day and seriously add a big spoonful of just plain Greek Yogurt and it’s SOO good. Seriously go try it.
