A couple of weeks ago a few friends and I were talking and thought — let’s throw a girl’s night! Us ladies rarely get to you know “treat ourselves” so we wanted to get everyone together for a night of getting to know each other and just fun! Well, since it was almost Thanksgiving, we said — WAIT, FRIENDSGIVING! DUH.
I had never thrown a Friendsgiving so I was pretty stoked. I am all for throwing a good party, add food and well — I’m, all, in. One of my favorite parts about having food at a party is the appetizers. I’m totally the person that gets super full on appetizers before the actual main meal. Seriously I just love appetizers so dang much. Well, we were lucky enough to have Olive Garden team up with us for this little Friendsgiving which means — ALL THE APPETIZERS AND DELICIOUS FOOD. No joke guys, Olive Garden is hands down my favorite restaurant. In fact, Marcus and I have gone there every year for our anniversary since we got married and do date nights there probably more than I want to admit. 😉 HA! Naturally, all the ladies at the Friendsgiving thought the same thing because well, Olive Garden.
We went all out with the decorations and got a big majority of them at the dollar store (RIGHT?!). I’m all about a good deal, especially when it’s cute too. We rented “kiddie tables” from a local event store and used them as floor tables to give it a boho feel with pillows and rugs for seating. Then we strung lights from the ceiling so we could dim the lights and make it feel like night time, but you know — in the warm house. 😉 It was seriously perfect! Turned out better than I even imagined it would.
But the real reason for it, good food and friendship. There’s just something about having a group of ladies together that just get each other, that are nice and welcoming. We all need that. As a Mom especially it’s so hard to find good friends, so it was great to kind of get us five “hosts” together and then invite the friends we knew to get a big group of us there to meet and hang out. We chowed down on appetizers, mingled for a little bit, then dove into all the Olive Garden pasta and Martinelli’s. Seriously — 20 bottles of Martinelli’s, gone. HA! It was so great. After chowing down and filling our bellies with pasta and breadsticks, we mingled a little more and then we did Karaoke! I’m not going to lie, I couldn’t tell you the last time I did Karaoke, but it was so much fun to just let loose and sing at the top of my lungs with friends.
So, moral of the story: throw a Friendsgiving. Actually, just have Olive Garden cater all of your holiday parties. I mean, throw a Friendsgiving next year, but since the time has passed this year — grab OG for your holiday parties. It was a serious hit and well, I mean it’s Olive Garden – you really can’t go wrong.
Oh and one more thing because she deserves all the recognition– our girl Kimi made pies and guys — LOOK AT THESE.
Shout out to my girl Chantel for the gorgeous pics!
