I swear I live most days in fast forward. I have been trying really hard to have quality family time, to live life in a more meaningful way, but even still before I know it it’s 10PM, I’m exhausted and somehow the day is already over again. I think part of it is, I’ve been waking up at 5:30AM to hit the gym with some friends so I am in bed by like 10:30 at the latest or else I am worthless the next day, HA! Before I used to stay up until 1-2AM and work, so it’s just a new adjustment. BUT a good one! So I figured I would share a few tips and tricks that have worked for me in this little life transition and phase of busy, chaos that we are currently in!
- This is a big one for me. I need something that is good for me and QUICK. So for breakfast, I usually will grab something easy and already made. Lunch and dinner I switch back and forth between Tai Pei entrees and letting Marcus cook/leftovers from the night before. Let’s be honest, most days during lunch you can find me eating a Tai Pei bowl. They’re the most delicious with fried rice deliciousness. It’s great because they just have frozen fried rice in them, an entree and you pop em’ in the microwave for a few minutes and then, ready to serve. Plus — NO DISHES. They’re literally in the bowl, ready to eat. Another win – Blake loves them, so I can knock two things out at once 😉 They have exceptional flavor in each dish, a wide variety of options and well, they’re made with real, quality ingredients so I feel good about what I am eating. - I can’t stress lists enough. But I am very much a type-A person that loves to write down all the things. Every night before bed, I fill out a little gratitude journal I have (to just kind of breath and de-stress), then I will pull out this giant pad of paper I have and I make a “to-do” list for the next day with little check boxes next to each thing. (There’s just something about actually checking off a box, ha!) This helps me mentally prep for the next day and then actually remember what I need to do. I always order them from most important to least because then if I don’t get something done at the bottom, I can move it to the top of the list the next day!
- You guys know that I love to just get in a quick work out strictly to keep my mental state in check, I’ve told you a million times before. Seriously though, there’s just something about it that has been life changing for me. I can’t explain it, I am so much happier, my stress level feels lighter (even though it’s totally not) and it gives me the much needed “me time” that I need everyday with some girlfriends.
- Focusing is key. I am the type of person that gets distracted WAY too easily. So if I sit down to work, I have to put all distractions aside and actually dive in or else it’s totally pointless. Sometimes I will even put my phone on do not disturb for an hour, just so I have an hour of silence. If your little one takes a nap — take that time to really dive into whatever needs your full, undivided attention. It’s just about finding a schedule that works for you, setting distractions aside and sticking to it.
