Trying to keep with the consistency of life through the last couple of weeks has been well..chaos. We moved, went to LA for an event and things have just been all over the place. Blake was sleeping in our room, then a hotel room, then a new room and to say she’s a little confused would be an understatement. She’s honestly handled it okay, for the most part anyways 😉 *knock on wood*, but I’ve been trying really hard to at least keep with the same consistent bedtime routine. Ya know, in hopes that at least one thing will stay the same.
She takes a bath, we brush her teeth, read a story, say prayers and then it’s lights out. I generally lay next to her for a few minutes and she makes me tell her puppy and kitty cat stories and it’s actually been really good for us to just bond like that.
We recently started reading a new book at night before lights out and it’s seriously super cute so I thought I would share details with y’all because well, I just think everyone needs to have it. It’s called, “Groovy Joe: Dance Party Countdown” and it’s the most adorable little book about a little pup who plays the guitar and wants to have a dance party. But then more and more pups continue to come and party and it seems like he is going to run out of room, but then he invites “you” (AKA: Blake) and welp, that’s her favorite part. It counts each pup that shows up, which is great for counting practicing and Blake loves that the dogs are dancing. I mean – we love to dance over here so obviously it was a big hit right off the bat!
The author is Eric Litwin, with beautiful pictures from Tom Lichtenheld, both New York Times bestsellers.
We love finding new books to read every night! Plus it’s a nice change for this Mama instead of reading the same thing over and over again…though I think this one might be stickin’ around for a few weeks, but that’s fine, it’s cute! Here’s to crossing our fingers Blake will sleep great still once she’s in her own room again 😉
