Growing up, especially around the holidays some of my best memories are one that happened in the kitchen. Every year my Dad would make the best fudge you’ve ever had (pinky promise), we would literally wait around the kitchen while he cooked it. Then the minute it was cooled enough to eat it, we were diving in with a spoon! That fudge didn’t last more than two days in our house. Not only did we eat all the fudge, but about a week before Christmas we would bake all the things; cookies of all kinds, holiday Chex mix, brownies, fudge, all of it! We would stay up for hours, blast Christmas music and decorate all the cookies. It was seriously the best and those are some of my favorite memories. Once all the desserts were baked and the cookies frosted we would package them up all cute and take them to close friends and families!
I want to continue those same traditions with Blake. I want her to be able to experience that same fun and joy that I did growing up! Christmas is about exactly that, family. It’s about coming together, spending time together and remembering the real reason for the season. This is why I believe so strongly in continuing traditions, in making new memories and starting our own, new traditions.
Cookbook Create is just that and I love how special it has made our holidays so far. Not to mention I really think it’s just the perfect gift. I teamed up with a few other bloggers and Cookbook Create and we made the most fun Cookie Recipe book. It’s an entire recipe book of all the delicious cookie recipes. So Blake and I put it to use last night. We made all the cookies…okay we only made one recipe, but you get it. I want to start those little traditions and this is just the beginning. Blake ate all the sprinkles, we danced to the music and it was just what my heart needed. Now this weekend we get to do it as a family, with Marcus when he’s home for work and I can’t wait! We will make little cookie plates and deliver them to friends and family just like we did growing up and it’ll be just the start of continuing traditions with my little family.
What traditions do you do in your family? I can’t wait to think of new ones to do, but if I am being totally honest I’m blanking out…so tell me some of your fun ones in the comment below!
