Believe me, I haven’t forgotten about Thanksgiving, BUT I am just so excited for Christmas and having my family here for Thanksgiving that I’ve been in the decorating, celebrating mood. Growing up we always had our Christmas decorations up the week of Thanksgiving or we would do it after we ate the turkey. I wanted those same memories for when my family comes this week and I host my first Thanksgiving. So Blake and I celebrated this morning with our own little Feliz Navidad and a whole lot of Elena of Avenor and dress up. Tell me my little one isn’t the only one obsessed with Princess Elena? I’m within 5 second of “Sister, sister, sister time….” coming on the TV, she’s locked in and full on dancing. It actually really makes my heart happy to see her little personality come out. She currently loves football (that’s all Marcus), all things “pretty” (aka: necklaces and bracelets) and princess EVERYTHING. So we decided to make a little Princess Dress Up corner in her play room and well y’all, she’s literally played with it every single day since we set it up. Today I’m excited to share all the details of her Princess dress up corner, because it just happens to make the perfect present 😉 and of course I have some cute pictures from our fun little more of celebration and snuggles.
This morning Blake actually slept in a little, mainly because she was up until 11:30, but hey..we take what we can get around here, ya know? 😉 Once she was up, we ate breakfast, she requested waffles and then fed it to the dogs, and then we turned the Christmas music up loud and started the ultimate party. We danced, she took all the ornaments off of her little tree and we read Elena of Avalor: Feliz Navidad. (Which side note, go buy a little tree with plastic ornaments for your toddlers–it’ll save your actual Christmas tree and they can take all the ornaments off that one. You’re welcome.) Now back to the party. Blake loves to read, I’m not even kidding. If you’ve watched my Snapchats or Instastories you know this is true. I catch her reading by herself all the time and it’s s’dang cute! Currently this Elena of Avalor: Feliz Navidad book is her favorite (grab it, here). She asks for “Lena” every night and then points at Princess Elena on every page with a big smile on her face. It just so happens to be the perfect book too since it’s the holidays and well the story line is pretty cute too. Elena hosts a big Navidid celebration in the park, but everyone is just trying to prove that their traditions are the best, so she has to come up with different solutions and tricks to turn it back around and make it great. I actually am a really big fan of her and the show, she teaches Blake diversity and good morals and well, that’s sometimes hard to come by nowadays 😉 After we finished looking at and reading the book about 15 times, we turned the theme song on and had the ultimate dance party. I wish I had caught it on video-y’all the way she dances might just be my favorite thing yet. It’s seriously the friggin’ cutest thing ever. She shrugs her shoulders over and over again, lifts a foot or two and rolls her hands. Haha! I’ve got to get her in dance as soon as she’s old enough, this sweet girl is all about her music.
Eventually, we made our way upstairs, I attempted to work for a few minutes because well #life, but then got distracted watching her play dress up and taking all the pictures. It’s just honestly the best to watch her just play and I’m slowly learning that it’s okay to walk away from what I’m doing for a few minutes to soak it all in. She put her crown on over her beanie, tried to wear her purse as a necklace and took all the hangers down. Then she tried to put her giant tulle skirt on her baby doll and well–that might have been my favorite part. Isn’t it just the best when you start seeing their sweet, innocent little personalities come through? She has the sweetest little spirit and it makes my heart want to burst.
Now, we’ve had tons of questions about her little Princess dress-up corner, so I’m sharing how we made it and then links to all (or similar) items, so that you can create your own little dress up space and be Princess ready this holiday season with Elena!
