Better late than never, am I right?! We’ve been in our home for about 7 months so I decided it WAS time for a house warming party! I’m game for really any excuse to hang out with family and friends and eat food. Plus planning a party?! That’s practically my middle name. Fun fact about me–I LOVE event planning, like so much. So I teamed up with Greenvelope, designed REALLY cute e-vites and threw a little house warming party with family!
It was honestly so fun. I designed a simple, but chic invite that goes straight to their email inbox courtesy of Greenvelope. Made a whole lot of food (which y’all, I NEVER do) and brought out the paper plates because well–I hate dishes. Which let me share three things I’ve learned about party planning with y’all real quick! Then I’ll dive into cute pictures and our house warming party.
- Don’t overwhelm yourself. Seriously– just don’t. I have found that the more I over think things and the more I stress myself out, the less fun I have the the more I dread the entire concept of “party planning”. So just don’t–do things simple, have fun and make light of it.
- Use things you already have. If you have leftover party decor–use it! Gorgeous china? Pull it out! Use pieces you have and pull it together in one space to create the perfect look!
- Paper plates. Say it with me..PAPER PLATES. No one is going to think less of you and guess what? You’ll be thanking me come clean up time. They’re time saving and life changing folks.
Okay, let’s talk party details. I made Salsa Chicken in the crockpot, guacamole, rice and all the good stuff. I went with a Mexican food theme since everyone generally loves it and it’s easy on me–since well, I’m not a good cook y’all and that’s an understatement 😉 I will be sharing my Salsa Chicken recipe soon since a lot of y’all asked–so stay tuned on that. I set it up as a buffet style. Plates, utensils and napkins at the beginning then a serve yourself bar top with all the delicious foods! My Mom brought dessert and well–she nailed it. Rich chocolate ice cream and churros. I mean, adios diet, GIMME all the churros. We laughed around the table, told fun stories, watch Blake cover herself in chocolate ice cream and really had the best time. I forced the guys to be in my pictures 😉 Because well, I document everything and made sure every peeked at the cute invitations I sent out again.
Here’s to many memories, all the fun and celebrating a house warming party 7 months later! 😉 CHEERS!
