Today’s such a good Saturday. For several reasons. One, we have another HUGE giveaway in store for you. And two, I’m showing off our master bedroom today with Walker Edison Furniture and 4Sleep USA. Plus, I’m sharing a DIY on how to make my headboard!
I’ve wanted to spruce up our Master for awhile, but it’s been on the back burner. Finally, once we decided we were going to buy a house I said–it’s happening and before. I did everything before our move because I know that there will be big expenses when building a new home and unfortunately a master makeover probably won’t be on the list and I wanted everything to be exactly what I wanted before we moved so that we could unpack it and have it look perfect!
Here are the pieces and the entire look:
It’s happening over on our Instagram and we’re giving away a 4Sleep USA Mattress and a piece of furniture from Walker Edison Furniture!
THE HEADBOARD DIY:
It’s actually fairly easy to make. You will need the following:
•Plywood (the same width as the head of your bed)
•Fabric of choice
Step 1: Cut out corners of plywood with a saw to create the shape of the headboard. If you want it straight across, leave it!
Step 2: Cover the front of the headboard with quilting batting, fold over the edges then staple it down with a staple gun. (Go crazy with the staples!–you can’t have enough in my opinion. And remember to keep the batting tight!)
Step 3: Repeat the last step, but this time with the fabric.
Step 4: Here comes the trickier part, adding the nails as a border! I took a thin piece of masking tape and put a straight line down each side so that I made sure each nail was straight. Then I marked with a pencil where I should hammer each one in.
Step 5: Once you’ve got everything marked down, lay the headboard flat on the ground and hammer each nail into the correct spot with the rubber hammer.
Step 6: Remove masking tape. This can be time consuming because you have to rip in between each nail–but hey you have straight nails don’t you?!
TA-DA! How does it look?!
