Do you date your husband? This is a new lesson learned in my life. In case my Instagram doesn’t make it very clear I’m pretty obsessed with my child. This means, I don’t like leaving her, EVER. It’s not that I don’t trust either of our parents, I just love her so much and miss her when I’m away. I sound like a crazy Mom. You know the one that won’t let their child go anywhere and holds their hand while they shop together when they’re 17. That will be me. Literally. Haha! Okay, maybe not. The point is, I have a hard time leaving her, especially when it’s ‘just’ a date night and not necessary.
Did I just say that?! ‘Just’ a date night?! News flash Jess, date nights are real important. Especially for us newbies, actual everyone not hair newbies. Sometimes I forget about Marcus. In the best possible way (not that there’s a best way for that). I just get wrapped up in baby, work, sleep and overwhelm. Saying I forget about him sounds bad, it’s not like that. I know y’all are picturing me as the worst wife ever now….what I mean is I forget about us time and how important it is. We talk still, we love each other, we pray together and we do well everything together still, but generally with Blake. So here’s where I say it, DATE NIGHT/MORNINGS/LUNCHES ARE IMPORTANT. I learned that today. Marcus and I went to the temple and then to lunch afterwards. It wasn’t anything special, we grabbed pizza for goodness sake, but we had us time! We talked, held hands, he opened my car door and it was the best. It was great to remember I’m wanted and loved and he is too. Life gets busy sometimes, so these little reminders are the best in between the spit up and work meetings. Oh and guess what else? Blake was just fine at her Grandma & Grandpas house. She played with her little activity gym, ate a bottle and went outside, she had a blast and was a happy little girl when we got back.
So here’s the moral of the story, date. date. date. Date yo baby Daddy because it’s the best and he’s the best. Then come home and cuddle your babes together! Isn’t family the greatest?!
