Blake is a month old today and I’m not entirely sure what to think. Excited? Sad? I feel pretty much every emotion, but that’s nothing new. Ha! However, I wish my baby would stop growing! She needs to stay tiny forever. Someone at church yesterday said “How old is she? I can tell she’s not completely new” and I about lost it in tears. I wanted to yell, “She is new! She will always be new!” Like a crazy person, but decided that probably wouldn’t be the most sane thing to do.
Blake is miss independent, she loves laying on the floor and watching everything around her. She holds her head up like a champ, seriously I’m so impressed. We started tummy time a couple of days ago and doesn’t seem to have much of a problem with it, YET.
Motherhood is definitely challenging at times, mainly because of lack of sleep and not being able to read her mind. However, it’s absolutely amazing at the same time and I love spending every second I can with her. I left her twice this past week for little girls nights I had planned long before she was born and well those were HARD. I don’t think I’ll ever go out again now, that was plenty. I missed her way too much and made Marcus send me a picture of her every ten minutes….#judgeme
One month stats:
Weight: Great question. I’m not entirely sure, my guess is right around 8 pounds. She’s still pretty tiny and just grew out of her preemie pants a few days ago. She’s just now fitting well into newborn clothes.
Routine: HAHA! Funny. We literally don’t have much of a routine yet. Right now it’s all about as much sleep as possible and attempting to balance everything while working. The only thing we do the same every night is, PJ’s around 10, play/snuggle time, eat around 11:00, then bassinet for bed!
Sleeping: We’re still getting the hang of this and go back and forth. Some nights she sleeps seven hours straight, others we’re up every 2-3. Then there is the rare (only has happened twice) occasion that she partied almost all night! Let’s cross our fingers that last one doesn’t repeat itself anymore!
Eating: She does great both breastfeeding and with a bottle. I still use a nipple shield which stresses me out a little bit for the future, as I would like to get rid of it someday soon–but whatever works, works! She eats every 3-4 hours during the day and the nights vary!
Milestones: She’s awake and alert a lot more these last few days! She absolutely loves looking around and her favorite thing by far is watching the ceiling fan. Ha! Her faces are my favorite, she makes the best faces from an ohhhh face to little smiles while she sleeps and we can’t forget the frowns, they’re the saddest little faces and break my heart. I would say her biggest milestone so far is holding her head up like she does! Seriously it’s amazing and everyone comments on how impressed they are. She just loves to be able to look around at everything!
Here’s a short little video on her and hello update for you!
