It’s that time of year again! Everyone is getting married, announcing pregnancies and having baby showers. And you have no idea what to give as your gift. Yet, buying unique gifts for baby showers/mothers can always be challenging. Especially if you’re like me and don’t have any children, so you’re not quite sure exactly what they need/want. You also have to factor in what they already have, don’t want or need, and never got, but they could’ve used.
I myself, have a niece and a nephew. I always find it hard to purchase the most unique gifts that either they can fully enjoy or their mother needs the most, without getting just another Frozen doll, baseball bat and ball, or box of diapers and wipes.
But let’s be honest, picking out a unique gift for a baby shower/new mother is the most fun thing to do. Once you find the perfect gift. I’ve collaborated with Positively Oakes, which is a great Mommy Blog for new/existing mothers, to create a Gift Guide for babies and mothers who have everything from the Aunt perspective. Here’s a short list of the perfect gifts from the Aunt to the expecting mother or baby on the way. Hope these help you give the best, most meaningful and unique gift possible!
1. Monthly Baby Stickers
These are the perfect gift for the technology savvy mother. You know the type.. The mom who posts every moment of her child’s life on her Facebook and Instagram accounts. Well this is the best gift to give instead of purchasing 24 months worth of monogrammed onesie’s. This way mom can dress her baby in her favorite outfit and pop on a monthly growth sticker to top it all off. Now she will have the cutest post of her child that is guaranteed to be a BIG hit!

2. Birth Announcement Pillows
This is a unique twist on a traditional birth announcement. These are adorable for the decorative mother. This way she’ll always have a memory to keep in the nursery, or child’s room. So personal and precious.

3. Baby Slings (Moby Wrap)
Most, if not all mother’s are extremely protective and particular about who they let touch their babies. And almost all mother’s want to hold their babies as close to their bodies as possible while still having their hands free to multitask their busy schedules. My sister has had one baby, and is now pregnant with her second child. She mentioned this was one thing she always wanted, and dreams of getting this go around. These are beyond ideal for the working, on the go mother.
There are multiple versions of wraps out there… here are a few (x) and (x)
4. Gifted Professional Photography Session
This is always something beginner families would love to have, but probably never think about until it’s too late. Gift your sister, friend, cousin or best friend’s family with a session for their annual family portraits. Allow them to have it redeemed to fit their personal schedules. You can even go in with a few people, and throw in some of the best shots paid for, for printing! This is thoughtful, and you’ll feel great when you get that seasonal post card in the mail to put on your fridge.
It’s best to search for someone local, so therefore I don’t have any suggested photographers. Just make sure to look at their portfolio’s or website galleries to find a perfect fit. They’ll love it!
5. Aromatherapy Nursery Diffuser
Lately there has been a huge fad of essential oil use for babies by mother’s. Essential oils are believed to have natural healing powers/remedies so for babies who can not consume medicine, this is what mother’s are resulting to for healing purposes. So gifting an Aromatherapy diffuser for a babies nursery is a great idea! You could even throw in a few essential oils, and an essential oil guide.

6. Babies First Laundry Basket
Now I wouldn’t know from experience.. But from living with my niece and nephew for the better part of their 1-2 yr old lives as roommates, I have observed that balancing a work life, home life, newborn life and clean life is hard to come by. So in my opinion, as their Aunt, a perfect gift for a baby shower would be a laundry basket to separate the newborns clothing/sheets from Mommy and Daddy’s. Then fill it with some necessities such as a Nosefrida snot sucker (x) Plenty of Johnson’s baby wash in all scents (or their favorite), Baby finger nail scissors, extra bibs and burp cloths, some good wipes, baby mylicon (gas relief), Boudreaux’s butt paste (diaper rash cream) (x), Essential Oils (x), Dreft baby detergent, and maybe an odor eliminator for the Diaper trash can too! These are interchangeable options of course, but all would be great gifts if you’re like me and like to take small gifts and create a “gift basket”.
Hopefully this was helpful, and you now have a great idea for a gift, or got inspired to create one of your own!! And don’t forget to check out Positively Oakes Blog for more Mommy/Baby blog posts!
Until next time,
xoxo Cait!
