We recently collaborated with My Orange Dreams, where we got to stage a little birthday set up for the perfect photos. And well I got to dream up the ultimate first birthday party for Blake, seriously I was in heaven. However that being said, Blake please don’t grow up fast…you can stay little forever, I really wouldn’t mind.
Now back on the birthday topic, who here has a birthday boy or girl coming up real soon?! If so and you’re in the planning stages get your cute self over to My Orange Dreams, because Wendi (the fabulous girl behind this brand) seriously has the cutest birthday items, bow ties, diaper covers, all the goods for your babes. Or if you’re like me..you might just buy anything baby and party related all the time (it’s a problem), so now is your chance!
And…of course I had to get Wendi to give you guys a promo code, because well duh–it’s what I do 😉 So today you can grab 15% off at her shop, just use the code “OAKES15”.
Since we’re on the topic of birthdays, we put together this fabulous little list of what we think are must knows/haves for first birthdays:
Introduce baby to a cake before their actual party or photo shoot. This is huge–some babies really don’t like the texture of it, or just the cake over all and well… Crying babies are cute but we would rather them be laughing and smiling on their birthdays right?!
Accessorize. Accessorize. Accessorize. Seriously, we love accessories on babies and for the actual party. We’re talking, tassels, headbands, bows, hats, balloons, etc. Hey, they only turn one once right?
Theme it out. We love themes, whether the party’s theme is gold and white, or an entire jungle theme, doesn’t matter. But a theme really ties everything together!
Budget and DIY. Just because we said they only turn one once doesn’t mean you need to break the bank for this fabulous party. In fact you can DIY almost any party prop or decoration nowadays, just ask Pinterest.
Chill. That was harsh wasn’t it? And let’s be honest, I’m one to talk-NOT. But seriously, don’t stress. If something doesn’t go right, if your little cries during the cake smash, or another kid tears down the tassels you spent good money on or hours making, it’s okay. That’s all part of the fun right? Plus it’s just going to make the memory even better. Now someone tell me to take my own advice!
Now enough birthday talk, let’s all swoon over these pictures. Oh and if you missed it, we also teamed up with Wendi on a giveaway over on our Facebook and you definitely don’t want to miss it. It’s for a cake smash outfit–and who doesn’t love babies and cakes?!
