A lot of y’all have had tons of questions about Blake’s swim classes, how we got her to love swimming so much, etc. Well….the second question, you know, how we got her to like swimming? Not sure I have an answer to that one, HA! She hated the first swim lesson class, but then after that she was legit obsessed and now she’s my little fish baby! Anyways, since Saturday is National Learn to Swim Day I figured I would share why we love our swimming class and why teaching Blake how to swim and act around water was so important to us!
Last year we started Blake out in the water slowly in her SwimWays Baby Spring Float, she would float around the pool with her tiny baby sunglasses and hat on and well, it was just about the cutest thing you’ve ever friggin’ seen. Which fun fact, SwimWays is actually who started National Learn to Swim Day in 2012, which is the 3rd Saturday in May every year now! But we started introducing her to water early, though I will say one thing I wish we had done, was started her in swimming lessons a little bit earlier. Not so much for the “lessons” part, but more so that she could stay used to the water on the off season too! I think that would have kept the first couple classes a little less well, chaotic. HA! Anyways, when I was pregnant, we actually discussed getting Blake in swim lessons fairly early just because we had seen some accidents around us and a couple too many scares, so we wanted to try and you know, cover our bases as much as possible.
So we introduced her early, let her float around in her SwimWays float often (which I’ll be reviewing soon) and then put her in swim lessons around 18 months old! Now like I said she LOVES the water so much! Her class is great though because not only does it each her techniques, but water safety which is why National Swim Day was created by SwimWays, to educate and teach safety and the importance of learning to swim. So get out there, find a pool and let’s get a teachin’!
